I am always happy to support the local community so when a Churchdown school approached us to sponsor an egg

or three in their egg hunt at Easter I was happy to agree.

Friends of Churchdown Village Infants School have organised a family Easter Egg Hunt to take place between 1.00pm and 4.00pm on Saturday 21st March. Entrance fees are £2.50 in advance and £3.00 on the day.

The trail, which is suitable for all ages, starts at the school. Maps go on sale from the school during the week commencing 9th March.

The tradition of giving eggs as gifts goes back hundreds of years and was prevalent in many cultures around the world, including the UK. These were usually chicken eggs, hard boiled and painted in many different colours.

Solid chocolate eggs began appearing in France and Germany during the early 1800s. What we would recognise today as an Easter egg, made of chocolate but hollow, was invented by Bristol chocolatier J S Fry & Son in 1873. The company eventually merged with Cadbury’s.

I hope you will find time to join in the hunt on 21st March!
